  1. An octopus is any of an order (Octopoda) of 
  2. cephalopods, genus Octopus, having a round or 
  3. oval body and eight arms with rows of suckers 
  4. on each. They occur in all temperate and 
  5. tropical seas, where they feed on crabs and 
  6. other small animals.
